Favourite lacrosse player:
Sam Apuzzo from Boston College and Team USA
Aspirations in lacrosse:
To keep playing for as long as I can and to make the Australian Women’s Team.
What keeps you motivated:
Wanting to be better and become the best I can be, seeing progression in myself and continuously striving to learn more. As well as the people around me family/friends.
What drew you to Future Stars Lacrosse?:
To learn new skills and to continue training even in the offseason. Learning from different coaches, meeting new people and training alongside my friends.
What are your favourite sessions at Future Stars Lacrosse?
I enjoyed all of them. If I had to pick one, it would be when we played full field or half field games. I was able to incorporate the skills we learnt in previous sessions.
How do you think Future Stars Lacrosse helped you develop as an athlete?
It helped me learn different skill sets with my lacrosse, improve my fitness and to stay committed to the training through organised sessions.
What is some advice for those players wishing to play for Victoria and Australian Teams in the future?
Just go for it, it’s an amazing opportunity where you get to play with and be coached by the best in our country/state. Take as much information as you can and learn from other players as well. Keep training and putting the effort in, it’s a hard process but all worth it in the end.
Tell us about the friends you have made through training with Future Stars Lacrosse?
I have made lifelong friends through lacrosse which is one of the reasons I signed up for Future Stars. I was able to train with friends from all different clubs and meet new people.
What would you say to anyone considering joining Future Stars Lacrosse?
Definitely join! It’s an opportunity to develop your own skill set and prepare you for whatever direction you want to take your lacrosse. To also bring back your knowledge to your own clubs to continue to grow the sport is also a big benefit.
What’s it like getting advice from Sarah Mollison and what have you learnt from her?
I have learnt a lot from Sarah. I have been coached by her during Future Stars Lacrosse, 2016 U18 Victorian Team and she spent some time being our state-based coach for the 2015 and 2019 U19 Australian Team. I have been lucky enough to play against and alongside Sarah and she has so much experience and knowledge about lacrosse that everyone can take a piece of and use it in whichever way works best for them.
